v. 08
The
Dis/
Connected
City
The Dis/Connected City navigates the forces that shape how we are pulled together and apart. It asks us to notice where lines have been drawn—spatially, politically, emotionally—and to question who drew them and why.
Most importantly, it asks us to reimagine the lines. What might turn them into linkages?
We invite you to explore what truly builds and nurtures relationships across people and places—and what kinds are essential in a changing world like ours. What is the role of empathy? Of friction and disagreement? Of pessimism and hope? Of love?
Free City Zine introduces this theme with the conviction that we have far more in common than what sets us apart, and more agency in shaping our worlds than we are taught to believe.
We welcome contributions in the form of words—essays, interviews, narratives, poetry—or visual work such as drawings, paintings, maps, photographs that respond to these questions. By placing many perspectives side by side, we endeavor to uncover the through-lines that ultimately reveal the larger conditions of our time.
